Money Matters!

Unfortunately Scouting isn't free. Like any organisation we have costs we have to meet. We have sole use of the Scout HQ which we rent from the Church. We have electricity, water and insurance to pay each year. Equipment needs replacing or repairing. The sections run some activities that have to be paid for. The badges that the children so proudly wear on their unifroms have to be bought - and so on and so on...

We charge £25 a term for all sections. This breaks down into £12  for the section to cover their costs and £13 Group Fund to cover the costs of the HQ etc.

On top of this we charge a further £11 a term for Capitation. This is the Scout Association Insurance, Scout Association funds, District funds etc which is all rolled into a one off payment per child (and Leader) that the Group has to pay each year. We don't set the amount or have any say in it, it just has to be paid. This year the amount was £30.50, but for next year we estimate £33 so hence the £11 a term.

So each child has to pay £36 per term.

However if you are on income support or other benefits, but still want your son or daughter to experience Scouting, please contact the Group Scout Leader to discuss the costs.
