The Building of St Georges Church.

This photograph shows
the plot for the new church, and the first of the foundations being
dug. In the background is the temporary church, which is now the
church hall. The front cover for the order of service for cutting
the first turf. Building work progressing. Note the wooden frames

In the background you can see the vicarage under construction. The
roof has now been tiled, and in the bottom left, you can see the
frame for the spire, waiting to be lifted into position. Looking up from inside at men working on the spire The completed church - at this time the vestry,

Note - a horse and cart in the road, no television masts on Crystal
Palace Hill, no street lamps, and no Lorden Estate!
